Since Mercer Botanic Gardens opened to the public in 1974, it has flourished from a strong volunteer base.
Mercer volunteers include plant and nature enthusiasts starting at age 12 with a parent or adult guardian.
Volunteers ages 16+ may volunteer independently. We welcome community groups, corporations,
high school and college students, retirees, and anyone else with an interest in nature, conservation, and the environment.
Volunteers help with all aspects of the gardens. Try out a variety of positions to find what suits you best! Opportunities including garden assistant, potting
shed, greenhouse assistant, and more. Volunteer activities may include plant propagation, bed maintenance,
and care including weeding, mulching, planting, dividing, and harvesting.
Friends of Mercer Botanic Gardens also offers volunteer opportunities that range from administrative, outreach and social media, to board of
directors positions, special projects/events assistance and coordination, and more.
Mercer invites you to join the dedicated group of volunteers who share their time, talent, knowledge, and enthusiasm to help make
Mercer a premier botanical facility. Training is provided as required.

like discounts at plant sales, early plant sale shopping, discounts at participating plant nurseries, and discounted or free admission
