LANDSCAPE VALUES: Swiss cheese plants are beautiful vines native to the jungle floors of South America. They make terrific house plants that provide an exotic, tropical vibe. They are known for their lush, large, heart-shaped leaves that develop holes as the plant matures, due to fenestration, making them resemble Swiss cheese. They can be trained to grow up a moss pole, but they look great when left on their own to grow long vines. They make an easy, low maintenance house plant in standard indoor temperatures of 68 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit. They prefer high humidity and filtered indirect light. Water when the soil feels dry. Do not overwater, they do not like wet feet. Fertilize with time release fertilizer or a weak solution of liquid fertilizer. They can be grown outdoors in the shade but must be moved indoors at 50 degrees or below. All parts are toxic to people, dogs and cats.
