LANDSCAPE VALUES:
A superb, compact flowering Quince 'Texas Scarlet' creates a stunning floral display to herald the arrival of spring. From late winter through early spring, a profusion of brilliant cherry red apple blossom-like flowers nearly covers the bare branches, continuing even after the glossy, fine-toothed, dark green leaves have emerged. Budded cut branches are excellent for indoor flower arrangements. Fragrant, yellow fruits appear in late spring to early summer, ripening in fall. The fruits are sour to the taste; however, they are suitable for use in jellies and jams. Quince are hardy, long-lived, easy-to-grow plants that, once established, are exceptionally drought tolerant.
