LANDSCAPE VALUES: Bletilla striata is a hardy, easy to grow terrestrial orchid with upright, iris-like green leaves that form a slowly spreading clump. In early spring, delicate, pinkish lavender orchid like flowers, with a dark purple lip, bloom in pretty racemes of up to 12 blooms. This beauty will naturalize and spread modestly by rhizomes and by seed dispersal if it has ideal growing conditions. This plant is stunning in beds, borders or containers.
