TYPE: Perennial Vine
LIGHT: Full Sun
SOIL: Acidic
SIZE: 5-6 feet
DESCRIPTION: Blackberries are perennials with roots that survive year after year. The top of plant is biennial. Canes grow vegetatively for a year, bear fruit the net year, and then die. Every year the plant sends up new canes to replace those that died.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS: Best to plant when canes are dormant, early spring. Blackberries are self-fertile. Plant shallow, about an inch deeper than they were in the pot. Provide plenty of moisture when fruit is producing and mulch to keep weeds out.
