It is a cool-season annual that provides a splash of color to fall and winter gardens and is also pet-friendly. The leaves form a large rosette with deeply lobed, fringed edges. The inner leaves are ivory-white, while the outer leaves are a vibrant green with white ribs or bright pink center with blue green outer leaves. While bred for aesthetics, ornamental kales are edible and nutritious. The leaves are a good source of vitamins A, C, and K, as well as antioxidants.
